Decide to ignore them if you want, but at risk

A number of pit bikes are by nature unsafe. If you are considering purchasing one of these bikes, you must first insure that the bike you purchase is not risky in any regard. 6 crucial components can endanger a pit bike's safety, if they are neglected. Overlook them if you want, but at your own peril, literally. 1. Frame: Many pit bikes that can be bought sport frames with a single-beam design which are fragileand tend to crumble. It occurs even if they are used off-road only occasionally. A frame that collapses while you are riding it could prove tragic for you. The answer lies in using a pit bike fitted with a frame that has a twin beam design. Not only that, insure that the frame has a cradle to bear the engine from underneath and preferably made of Chrome Moly tubing which is stronger and lighter. A frame like this is more likely to stand up to the harshness of extreme off-roading. 2. Engine: In order to reduce costs, many pit bike manufacturers use engines that have not been tested for reliability, over a number of years of use. Because of this, they have high failure rates, and could cost the earth on repairs. An engine that's prone to failure would also endanger your safety while riding in heavy traffic, or even when you in rough terrain. Motor Sport engines such as Lifan and YX have proven to be trustworthy. The YX engine, particularly, can be fine-tuned easily to extract more BHP out of the engine.. Avoid a bike with an inexpensive engine, which could end up being expensive to maintain or replace. Get a pit bike that has an engine that has proved to be the most dependable over a long time, and has a verified low failure rate. Make sure that the engine is attached using better-quality bearings. A bike like this would require little maintenance, and would start easily, even if it has not been used for a length of time. 3. Wheels: Several makers of pit bikes do not fit their bikes with SDG wheels. Bikes such as these are prone to wheel failure, especially in the rear. This is because non SDG wheels have shoddily made rims and hubs. This results in the wheels becoming flimsy and frail, making them break down. Another potentially tragic end, if you are on the saddle when that happens! And we are not talking about the cost involved in replacement. Get a pit bike that comes fitted with SDG wheels. You are not only assured of stronger rims and hubs, but also of more robust spokes. This will make certain a pit bike that needs no maintenance that will give you a lot of pleasure riding over an extended period. Make sure the manufacturer has a combination of sizes to choose from. 4. Chains: Watch out for pit bikes that use cheap chains from China that stretch and break easily. This occurs even on a bike that doesn't come with an engine with a lot of power. A chain snapping while you're riding the bike can not only damage the bike but also cause you physical harm. Increase your bike's safety and yours by selecting a pit bike that uses a KMC chain. Not only are they stronger than cheap Chinese chains, they don't need to be maintained as much. 5. Tank: A number of pit bikes utilize low-priced materials for fuel tanks. These cost less, but fail more often, with the consequent risk to body and soul. Buy a pit bike that is fitted with a tank that uses a polymer resin. They are much safer, but are costlier. But then you have to keep in mind that your life is inestimable! 6. Throttle & Clutch Cables: Several makers of pit bikes imperil your safety by using a host of throttle & clutch cables that can be bought from the market, manufactured by several nameless factories. They do not take the trouble to verify the product's quality or the manufacturer's name. A majority of these sub-standard cables are prone to snapping almost at once, bringing you closer to death. Buy from a pit bike manufacturer who uses cables of superior quality for throttle and clutch, so your safety is not compromised as a result of sub-standard parts .
