Projects worth over 10b yuan signed at Yuyao's robot summit

The sixth China Robotop and Intelligent Economic Talents Summit opened in Yuyao, a city under the jurisdiction of Ningbo in East China's Zhejiang province, on May 9, attracting more than 1,500 scientists, experts and executives in the robotics field.

They gave insightful speeches on cutting-edge technologies related to robotics, smart manufacturing and artificial intelligence (AI).

Notably, 28 projects worth a total of nearly 12.2 billion yuan ($1.79 billion) were signed.

In addition, an expert committee for the summit was established at the opening ceremony. With 26 members, the committee is to serve as a high-level think-tank for the city in industrial planning, technology application, project introduction and cooperation in the robotics field.

Another highlight was the 5G network coverage around the conference hall, which ensured safe, stable and high-speed communications.

China Mobile Ningbo showed the latest achievements in 5G technology, including a bionic robot that moves its arms and fingers when instructed, a patrol robot that sends images captured to a monitoring screen via the 5G network, and a drone that can fly as far as 200 kilometers for live broadcast and logistics.

Yuyao was set as the permanent venue of the annual summit in 2016 after it successfully held the third meeting.

Themed around "Robots and Intelligent Connection Empower Everything", the summit focuses on promoting the deep integration of robots, smart manufacturing and AI to make robotic technology a part of every walk of life.

With it being successfully held for five years, the summit has become an important event in the domestic robotics field that can be paralleled with the World Robot Conference held in Beijing.

It has also played a key role in driving the development of the intelligent industries in Yuyao, the manufacturing industries in Ningbo and the digital economy in Zhejiang province.
